Ashblaze was born in a barn in the middle of an unusually hot spring day, and was the sole survivor of his litter. He lived among a couple other kittypets, but despised them. His father raised him with the knowledge of clan life, but was unable to bring his son to his own birthclan due to his relations with a kittypet female.
Six months later, the barn caught fire from a lightning strike, and collapsed. Ashblaze's parents were trapped in the burning wreckage and did not survive. He only escaped because one of the kittypet males rescued him on their way out, but the sight of his parents' death scarred the young kitten for life.
Filled with fear, anger, and frustration, Ashblaze soon abandoned his rescuer and went off in search of his father's clan. When he found them, the clan rejected Ashblaze due to his father's disloyalty. In a rage, Ashblaze attacked the clan's leader, furious that they would turn him away even though he knew everything about their lifestyle.
Though he was unable to kill the leader, word of his attack spread, and Ashblaze was later approached by a large black and white male who asked if he would join their clan as a Warrior. Hesitant at first, Ashblaze soon accepted when he found out it was the rival of the clan he'd attacked.
Ashblaze became a Warrior of DebrisClan, mentoring under it's leader, Yewstar. His father's clan, RidgeClan, was led by Direstar at the time, but after that leader went rogue, it was taken over by Galestar. TundraClan, the third of the area, rarely interacted with the other two, and was led by the silent leader Wolfstar.
Yewstar was a fierce, twisted, bloodthirsty leader that longed for revenge against his brother, Direstar. His selfish and merciless attitude towards the other clans rubbed off on Ashblaze, taking him down an even darker path. Ashblaze turned cold towards others, even his own clanmates, and would viciously attack anyone that dared cross into DebrisClan borders. His mentality became "Attack first. Questions later." It was a dangerous, bloody time in his life.
One day, Ashblaze awoke to find that Yewstar had gone off on his own in search of his rogue brother. Frustrated that his leader would go without him, Ashblaze waited for the return that would never come. Weeks went by without any trace of Yewstar or Direstar. The clans slowly fell apart and the cats dispersed, but still Ashblaze waited, desperately clinging to the false hope that his leader would come back and set things right.
Yewstar never came.
When new clans started moving into the territory, Ashblaze half-heartedly agreed to move on and took on a new role as a RiverClan Warrior.
If asked, Ashblaze will refuse to talk about his past. No one has ever been able to get close to him, due to his complete and utter mistrust of other cats. He despises any sort of weakness or vulnerability, and is always looking for ways to take advantage of such things. Ashblaze will often go off on his own to fume over his own emotions, since he believes he's been abandoned twice by cats he thought cared about him.
