After the Fire
A Mother's Lament.
“You’ve just come back and you’re already going out again?”
Mistpelt looked over her shoulder at the sound of the trembling voice as she was ready to bounce back into the forest once again, far from the safe sounds and scents in StarClan, looking at the tall black tom behind her, his amber eyes gazing at hers with unexplainable pain.
“Crowfoot I need to go…” she simply answered calmly, turning around to look at her mate. Crowfoot was the silent type, seeing his eyes fogged with such pain was…so surreal. “…I need to make sure he’s safe…at least until he has a clan to care for him…”
His gaze was a mix of disapproval and sadness as he spoke “…Oh, Mistpelt…he’ll be fine. He’s not a kit anymore…he’s made it this far, and the clans will soon be fully formed-“
“Soon is not now.” Mistpelt answered sharply.
Crowfoot kept his gaze still for a few heartbeats before looking down. “Mistpelt…I know you wanna protect him, and I don’t blame you, he’s our only son…he and Willowpaw are the only traces left of our clan…” he whispered “…but you can’t keep this up forever, one day, you’ll have to leave him…”
Mistpelt pretended to not be listening, but the pain in her eyes gave her away as the black tom spoke. He slowly stepped forward and touched her nose with his.
“I’ll stay until the Duskstar appoints the deputy.” She said simply and moved away, turning around to jump off again. “…then, I’ll return to you, and leave the rest to Duskstar…”

Beartalon- Big and strong fluffy brown tom with stumpy tail and green eyes.(Mosspaw)
Littlebranch- Very small pale brown tom with green eyes. (Apprentice: Goosepaw)

Fogpaw- Tall tom mottled in shades of gray, black, silver and white with green eyes. The oldest apprentice.
Willowpaw- Pretty white and gray she-cat with blue eyes.
Minnowpaw- White and gray tom with amber eyes.
